Laurie describes herself as odd, tiny, clumsy and well-shod. She’s been writing since she was about three; her first work, an illustrated story called “The Sun is Shining, The Flowers are Happy,” was number one with a bullet on the family fridge. Despite an educational detour - a degree in geology, during which time she realized she was on the wrong path - she became a writer. While she believes that English should evolve, so-called words like “incentivize” and “learnings” make her kinda queasy. She loves reading, in large part for the opportunity to see what the world looks like for others. Laurie was once rescued from the top of one of the former Canada Trust towers downtown, during a fire department practice rescue session.
